We are walking down a lifeline We are lovers through the days Where I met you, it was our time There were no words, no more than crazy days Now it’s over, where you are now I search the oceans, I scan the skies Did it happen, all I have to show It’s just hellos and goodbyes We’re born as angels, we’re born together Without wings, we surf the skies We’re free to wander, but we chose to tether To be as one, to delve the lows and the highs What’s the reason, through the seasons But I love you, you’ll realise Whilst even flesh can, hold a promise sometimes It’s just hellos and goodbyes And though you’re out of sight I see you everywhere And in the darkest night And the wind is blowing your fingers through my hair Now we’re older, have we forgotten The promises of years gone by Have we lost sight of our crazy passions Without pause, to question why Why do we need this, where is the birds song When they vanish, from our skies Above the heavens, and beyond the hands of God It’s all hellos and goodbyes

Waltz No.3 03:15
If you don’t see The road at your feet How will you know Where your legs lead you to If you don’t feel The ground ‘neath your heals How will you tell Where you come from or want to go While I’m away I’m alive It’s the one thing I need to survive While I’m away from you Dreaming each day of you here I count the time In terms undefined And only the days Unfold as they’re meant to On the wind in the air A bell ringing somewhere Is it all in your mind Or a memory come back to you While you’re away on the road Your business I your heavy load While you’re away from me Rattling from A to be there Leave me this way, I am alone, I can be found Come whatever it may, I can still hear the sound If you can’t trace The lines on your face The streams in your soul Echoes of a better world If you don’t hear Each cry and each cheer How will you share The gifts that you came to bear While we’re alive we can feel It’s the one thing we know to be real While we’re around, sometimes lost sometimes found Sometimes overboard, underground Lost in this silent sound here If you can’t trace The sun on your face How will you know Where you come from or want to go If you don’t hear Each cry and each cheer How will the songs Teach what you need to know

You can search all your life for that thing to do You can bang through the door on a street named you You can fall for the tricks like the guy before But there’s no shortcut and no open door You can run all your life just covering up You can bang for some change on a little tin cup You can spend a lifetime praying learning how to die But whatever it is you gotta try, try, try Oh baby baby baby, where’re we gonna run Where is there left to hide After all we’ve seen and done And if you say we’re leaving, that’s ok With the silent revolution on the way You can earn a fat dollar you can build a big shack You can jog round the world with it strung to your back But who’s laughing, who’s crying and who just doesn’t care Cos none of it’s gonna take you anywhere Cos they’ve got their eyes and they’ve got their means And they’ve got you all sewed up, all your hopes and your dreams And another hour’s spent in front of the screen You drink the GI blues and the sweet sixteen Oh baby baby baby, where we gonna go what we gonna look for and how we gonna know, and if … We live on a work farm, hang from the money tree March with the soldier ants, hop like the honey bees Buy the lies and the shit we’re sold Happy consumers doing what we’re told Catch me online let’s data date sometime Check me out grinning from the cyber slime I’m all over the place, not so hard to trace There’s a history there that time won’t erase Oh baby baby baby, where have our lives gone, flat against the flatscreen and the show goes on and on, and if ...

Cracks 04:30
He walks down the street Picking up litter and yesterday’s news It’s the cracks in the paving he’s got to dodge Or he’s sure to fall through He’s been studying the same cracks in the road Each time asking if this time is the time to explode Behind an etched face there’s a dull pain Behind this stretched space there’s a slow train / coming This is the town where they built the railways not so long ago The workers they came and they lived and they died, it was time to go And today there’s a stillness that hangs to the tracks An eerie understanding that what’s gone won’t come back Behind these arched walls there’s some meaning someone calls, and another falls dreaming And we’re all getting older my friend Still we’ll dance by the light of the moon We’re all getting nearer the end So let’s sing as if it’s our last tune. The boarded up buildings, just brambles and ghosts, but they don’t complain Nobody notices, as we shuffle to work in this endless rain There’s a sign on the wall let’s take hope you should call It’s a quiet revolution but it’s open to all Behind the facades I will meet you Beneath these charades I will greet you Everyone’s dreaming, scheming of leaving or they’ve already gone Some are saving for tickets, for wheels and for deals and roads to set them on And the green shoots they come and go in a year And the tired faces grow older but we’re still staying here We’re building a world that’s worth saving More to live in than just to behave in And we’re all going to heaven Still we’ll dance by the light of the moon We’re all going to die in the end So let’s sing as if it’s our last tune.

Give my love to Rose Give my love to Rose She’s the one I’ve been thinking of She’s forgotten me I suppose She blew in on a westbound wind On a night when the shadows froze She took me where I’d never been So give my love to Rose You’ve been on my mind You’ve been on my mind I’ve been looking for a love to last And it’s been hard to find I’ve been searching up and down Sometimes I think I’m blind I’ve been floating through streets of grey Since you’ve been on my mind I ain’t coming back I ain’t coming back I’ve been moving with a steady pace Way down this one-way track I’ve been heading like an arrow’s head Making up for all I lack I’ve been walking on boots of steel And I ain’t coming back

I’ll be the one to hold your hand When you’re lost out on the sand When you’re slipping out at sea Look around and you’ll see me And I’ll be the one to call you up Take you home and cheer you up Build you fire, bring you tea Come on baby - who else could it be? The silver streets of Swindon town shine still in the midnight air They’re almost deserted now, there’s no point looking cos you’re nowhere I’m driving home from a late-night dance, I left it on my own I couldn’t watch those couples dancing whilst others stood there so alone I know you’re some three hundred miles from me tonight I know, I know, I know but it still doesn’t make it right We still sail under the flag of liberty But that freedom’s just another wall that separates you from me The last bars are about to close their doors on another night The boys and girls gather for a final chance, a stolen kiss, a fumbled fight I wouldn’t want to stand in those shoes even if I could somehow For each one of us comes a time to choose and you’re the dream I hold on to now

about

This was my first album recorded in the UK, at Earthworm Studios, Swindon. Put together with limited time, it's got a pretty rough feel and there's not much I wouldn't do differently if I did it again. But it's a time and place, some songs still developing. It's like.
